Galapagos Penguin

The Galapagos penguin is endemic to the Galapagos Islands. It is the only species of penguin that lives in the Northern Hemisphere, and is the only penguin that lives in relatively warm weather. It is one of the smallest species of penguins in the world, and they are related to the African and Humboldt penguin species. Galapagos penguins live in small caves mainly on Isla Isabela and Isla Fernandina. They eat many different types of fish, such as sardines or anchovies, and can reach speeds of up to 35 kilometers per hour underwater. About 2,000 Galapagos penguins are in the world, but climate change could harm their population. Galapagos penguins are very special to the Galapagos Islands, and are one of many species that people travel to see.
